My Books of 2021

I’ll finish 2021 on about 130 books, way ahead of my Goodreads Challenge target of 100 (yay!)

I just thought I’d take a few minutes to share some of the BRILLIANT books I’ve read this year – 5 fiction, 5 non-fiction. Hope you find something to pique your interest here, just in case Santa didn’t bring you enough books!

This will be my last post of 2021, so wishing you all a Happy New Year and I’ll see you in 2022. Thanks to everyone who has visited my blog this year or chatted to me on Twitter – it has been an absolute pleasure.

Book Review: ‘A Corruption of Blood’ by Ambrose Parry

This series – set in Victorian Edinburgh – is one of my absolute favourites!

I love how vividly the gloom and danger of the city is conveyed, I love the realistic characters and I love the medical basis for the books. The (married) writers – award-winning crime writer (Chris Brookmyre) and medical expert specialising in anaesthetics (Marisa Haetzman) – are a brilliant combination and I look forward to each new book in this series with anticipation.

July Wrap-Up and August TBR

It has been a HUGE reading month for me – probably the best ever! I read 17 books in July – including three that I awarded FIVE STARS!

I’d like to thank the heatwave for making it impossible for me to do much else other than read. I am eternally grateful that this coincided (happily) with time off work!

I’m now at 81/100 on my Goodreads Challenge.

WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted at Taking on a World of Words. Anyone can take part and it is a great way of sharing what you have just finished reading, what you are currently reading and what is next on the TBR.

The school term is now finished and I am free to read! In fact, I spent much of the heatwave this week lying really still and reading books…bliss!

I’m now at 78/100 on my Goodreads Challenge.

The school term is now finished and I am free to read! It is very sunny and my pale gingery self can’t cope so I’m looking forward to hiding from the sun with a cold drink, a huge pile of books and the ever-present (but not long-lasting) family pack of Fruit Gums!

I’m now at 73/100 on my Goodreads Challenge.

April 2021 Wrap-Up and May TBR

April has been a great month for my reading – the Easter holidays gave me plenty of time and I have read some absolutely brilliant books this month.

I’ve read 13 books this month and managed to creep my NetGalley percentage up to 77%. I’ve got slightly ahead of my HUGE pile of May blog tours but next month is also looking pretty busy.
